Licence Application

Dunston Village Hall

(Registered Charity Number 514319)

Chapel Lane, Dunston, Lincolnshire LN4 2ET

1948 to 2018

70 Years at the centre of Dunston Community.

The Village Hall Premises are at present licensed for performance of plays, dance and playing of recorded music inside the building from 8am to 11.45pm. If alcohol is to be sold or included in the ticket price or live entertainment is put on for a paying audience then the DVH management committee or the hirer has to apply to NKDC for a Temporary Entertainments Licence (TENS). Dunston Village Hall has an allocation of 15 TENS in one calendar year.

In 2018 all 15 TENS were used by early December and we could not have accepted any bookings for Christmas Parties or a New Year’s Eve Party that would have included the sale of alcohol or live music.

The 15 TENS were used for 2 Wedding Receptions, 1 Family Party, 6 Comedy Nights, 1 Play, 3 Folk Nights, Village Hall 70th Anniversary and a FoDs New Year’s Eve Party (2017/18)

The Management Committee have consulted NKDC Licensing and decided to apply for a full premises licence to permit Regulated Entertainment and the Sale of Alcohol on Dunston Village Hall premises between the hours of 10 am and 11.30pm. Having a full licence will allow us to put on more live entertainment events with a bar without having to limit the number of occasions that the hall can be hired for parties or weddings that want to have live music or a licenced bar. It will allow us or other Dunston organisations to have events where a drink is included in the ticket price; cheese & wine evenings or wine tastings. In addition, it will extend the licence to allow for events in the grounds such as a Village Fete to have music or a bar outside.
